Split

2nd September to the 4th September 2015

We flew into Split from London Gatwick, got in pretty late, found our apartment, another one up 4 flights of stairs with no lift, but inside the apartment was gorgeous, the host met us and showed us around, gave us info on Split, everything brand new, we were only staying for two nights which was a real shame, we headed straight out to check out town and grab some dinner, we actually forgot the camera the 1st night but took a few photos on Grant’s iphone…

We had about a 5 / 10 min walk to town, the old town was gorgeous, each and every little old town blows me away, this with no exception, the old gates archways you walk through into what can only be described as looking like a medieval village from a movie, it’s was busy with people …inside a large square a few people danced and on the side sat a man with his guitar singing, it sounded really beautiful, it was surrounded with people drinking, just watching people.  It looked really relaxing.

We had dinner looked around a bit more and went back to the apartment to get some sleep.

The next day was our only fall day so we wanted to take in as much as possible.  We went back into the old town, had a real proper look around, took about a million photos.

We later found the promenade, at this stage the boys were tired so they all sat on a bench and I wanted to explore more, it was stunning, palm trees either side the large promenade with little street stalls selling all sorts of touristy nick nacks…the sun was starting to set and had a really pretty light to the whole area, I went back to the boys and we had another little walk along the water front, Jacob and Lucas sat on the edge dangling their legs over, and Jacob said we should do more of this…just relaxing and watching…it did look stunning, the sun setting on all the boats, the sea shimmering…sitting there with an ice cream did sound perfect we sat for a while and then went to find the restaurant we had seen earlier that looked really sweet to have dinner.

The restaurant setting was gorgeous we had a fun evening.

After dinner we walked back through the old town at night then had to go back and pack, we so prefer the month stays, and so wish we had stayed here for longer, feel that there was so much more to see.

Sweet Shops

Heaven for anyone, whether you are just looking and teasing yourselves like we did…or trying which we didn’t 😦 you should definitely take a look at the colourful selection.  These little shops are everywhere in Split.

We were next heading to Omis which is only 30 mins drive south, so we may come back for a day trip.  We’ll see…..

Airbnb Accommodation

IMG_2245 Airbnb Split – Ivana was there to meet us at the apartment as arranged, we had a few flights of stairs to carry our luggage, poor Grant is getting a dab hand at this…

The apartment was newly renovated and everything inside was brand new, it was a very nice apartment.  It was a 5 / 10 min walk into the old town and had shops all around us, the bus station with our luggage took about 15 mins.
